Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills

On the iconic palm tree lined Doheny Street in Los Angeles’ coveted neighbourhood of Beverly Hills, you will find theFour Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. Nestled in a residential neighbourhood tucked behind the trees, the hotel serves as an oasis in the bustling big city.

THE PROPERTY

As soon as you walk into the hotel, you are greeted with a glorious floral arrangement. My favourite thing about every Four Seasons property we have stayed in is that they always have a feature point in their lobby that changes throughout the year. To the left of the entrance, you will pass the concierge and head straight to the check-in desk. Also on this level is their restaurant, Culina, and Veil & Velvet, a lounge/speakeasy open only on weekends. They serve light bites, an array of martinis and cocktails, and dessert. I would have loved to see it on the weekends, as it had such a cool vibe. I loved the moody decor and lush velvet draping throughout the space, and the tufted leather sofas. During the day on weekdays, it serves as an extra sitting area to lounge. Toward the back of the building, past the parlour, you will find French doors that lead to an open field of grass and a beautiful fountain. On the fourth floor, they have the pool, spa, another restaurant, La Ola, and the gym. I would say the property feels quaint and easy to navigate, and, for a city hotel, it really nails the vacation getaway feel.

THE ROOM

We stayed in a California Suite, and the view was spectacular. We had two balconies, one of which wrapped around and where we could see the Hollywood sign. I lived in LA for 12 years, and after a while, you become desensitised to the mountain views, but I instantly appreciated their beauty on this trip, and it was nice to have a room with a view. The room was spacious, with two full bathrooms, a king-size bed, a pull-out sofa, a living room area, a sitting area, a bar with a sink, and a walk-in closet. It makes such a difference when you have a separate space from the kids, and they have ample room to play. The king-size bed was glorious, so comfortable, and we had the best sleep. If there were a way to bottle up the bed and pillows, I would most definitely be taking them home. The aesthetic was clean and minimal, but not sterile, which was nice and made it feel very serene and welcoming. It was a nice retreat to come back to after a day of running around the city.

THE POOL

The pool's retro vibes were my favourite. These pink umbrellas are giving the 70s vibes we didn’t know we needed. I promised the girls a pool day, and so I had to deliver. When you arrive at the pool, the attendant on duty will find you a spot and set you up with chairs and towels. You can also reserve a private cabana if you’d like. I’m not a fan of hotels that have a free-for-all with the pool, especially when it’s a smaller pool, so I loved that someone was there to help keep it organised and make sure each person had a space. You can order food and drinks by the pool, and they even have little ice cream bars for the kids. The girls loved swimming in the saline pool, and I loved lounging in the chairs. I got to relax a bit, they got their pool wish, and everyone was happy.

THE FOOD

Right next to the pool is the restaurant La Ola, which we visited after our pool time. La Ola offers Mexican cuisine, but with an LA twist, of course. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and delicious. The roasted cauliflower hummus was a treat and came with a Housemade Red Fife Flour Tortilla, similar to naan bread, which was a bit of a hit at our table. The food here is more casual, and so are the vibes, but I loved the decor and ambience. The lush botanical garden surrounded the space, and lemon trees made it feel like we were dining in the Mediterranean.

On the first night, we ate dinner at the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Culina, and were dazzled with an array of dishes. I had the spaghetti with prawns, and the pasta tasted so fresh, with rich, aromatic flavours. I really enjoyed it. We really loved the presentation of the dessert. I got the tiramisu, which had a brûléed sugar top and cookies inside. It had so many different textures, and the flavour was so rich. Tiramisu is one of my favourite desserts, and this did not disappoint. My husband got the Delizia, which was essentially a deconstructed lemon meringue pie; ad he loved it. The kids also had a great time. They had colouring and wax sticks, which kept them quite entertained. Our server was very personable and great with the kids. Even though the restaurant wasn't giving off kids' vibes, the children were very welcome here. They even offer a kids’ menu, though my kids would prefer branzino over mac and cheese; it’s always nice to have the option.

One perk I should add is that the hotel has 24-hour in-room dire a late snacker like me, you w’ like me, you will love this. (Only on vacation of course, wink wink)

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

As mentioned, The Four Seasons Hotel at Beverly Hills is located on the iconic Doheny Street, making it an ideal and central place to stay in LA. Driving down the palm tree-lined street is the most quintessential LA thing to do, so it’s nice that you get this view by staying here. A 5-minute drive will bring you to Beverly Hills’ famous Rodeo Drive, which is great for people watching and high-end shopping. You are also very close to Sunset Blvd, where you can find many live music venues, shops, and amazing restaurants. If you drive east towards Hollywood, you will find the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theatre, Madame Tussauds, and many other attractions. Drive west, and you can hit the Santa Monica Pier and beach. I could go on and on about all the nearby attractions, but trust me, this location will not disappoint.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. It was one of those stays where everything was nice and streamlined, so all you had to worry about was enjoying yourself. Although it’s a city hotel, they really do a great job of creating a resort feel in the middle of the city.
