A Red Carpet Themed Afternoon Tea in Beverly Hills
If you’ve been following along, you know that my girls and I LOVE an afternoon tea moment, but this isn’t regular tea; this is cool tea. Prêt-à-Portea at The Maybourne Beverly Hills is a red-carpet-themed afternoon tea served at The Terrace restaurant inside the hotel. This experience is offered Fri-Sun 1:30-3 pm. What makes this tea so different is that it serves fashion-themed pastries inspired by red-carpet looks. For example, Ariana Grande’s iconic pink dress at the Oscars or Timothee Chalamet’s infamous yellow suit. You can eat your way through all these looks with intricately designed desserts that are whimsically creative and equally delicious. The scones were amazing, and my girls discovered a new favourite, Nutella and strawberry sandwiches. I loved their selection of teas and the fact that we could have them refilled whenever we wanted. We were able to try all the teas our little hearts desired. The restaurant has a fun, artsy vibe that differs from the hotel, while The Maybourne brings an air of classic sophistication. I loved the whimsy of the decor, with its powder-blue booths and colourful murals, and yes, there is literally a red carpet adorning the floor. The pink-striped cups, plates, and teapots were giving Alice in Wonderland vibes in the best way. The whole place honestly was giving rich art who has the luxury of a hundred-dollar tea time in the middle of the afternoon, and don’t we all just want to feel like that at least once? Fun, carefree, enjoying your company and living in the moment. There was live music from a guitarist, and the entire adjacent wall was open, letting in the beautiful Los Angeles weather.
Prices range from $140 for adults and $65 for children, which is on the higher end of afternoon tea, but I would say you’re getting a unique experience, and you are in Beverly Hills after all, so you kind of have to when in Rome it. My girls absolutely loved it; it made for a fun afternoon, and I truly enjoy getting to experience things we enjoy together. If you love afternoon tea as much as we do, or you're looking for a fun, ritzy activity while visiting SoCal, this would be a great way to spend time with your girlfriends or kids.
