Ciclos Cafe
Jr. Colina 111, Lima 15063, Peru
Whatever you do while in Lima, you must visit Ciclos cafe. First of all, it's located in one of Peru’s hippest neighborhoods, Barranco, full of art galleries, history, and street art. Not only does this cafe offer coffee from local coffee beans, but it also has an entire chocolate store upstairs where you can purchase chocolate from cocoa harvested from different parts of Peru. There is a chocolate sommelier who can explain all the different chocolates to you, where they come from, and guide you on the best chocolate based on your taste preferences. Each chocolate has a story and origin, and it's truly fascinating. A must-visit. But the best part of this cafe is that they offer coffee and hot chocolate infused with this special Peruvian chocolate. It's a unique experience, and the coffee is some of the best you will ever try.
Ancestral
Av. San Martín 141, Barranco 15063, Peru
We stumbled upon Ancestral while roaming around the neighborhood, and boy, is this place STUNNING. The decor is so eclectic and fun. This cafe is fairly large, with various rooms each uniquely designed. Enjoy anything here, from a savory lunch to various pastries and cakes. The vibes are immaculate.
Nanka Restaurante
C. Manuel Bañón 260, San Isidro 15073, Peru
Nanka Restaurante is located in a less touristy part of Peru, San Isidro. We had the pleasure of staying in this neighborhood, a more affluent part of Peru, where many families live. It was nice to see this area of Lima; the other areas seemed more bustling and a bit chaotic, while San Isidro had calming vibes, with lots of parks and ponds, and many families strolling and enjoying the neighborhood. Due to its placement in the city, Nanka is more frequented by locals, so you know it’s good. Not only is the food exceptional and some of the best we had in Peru, but it’s also impeccably designed, with high, sweeping ceilings and greenery everywhere. The ceviche here is a must-try and absolutely delicious.
If there are 3 things you must try in Peru, it’s chocolate, coffee, and ceviche, and these cafes and restaurants will check all these boxes for you. As you explore Lima, Peru, you will notice many cute little spots tucked in around the city. Many people come to Peru and head straight to Cusco, but it’s definitely worth taking a day or two to explore Lima.
