3 Kid Friendly Stops From Boston To Cape Cod
If you live in New England, you will probably visit the Cape at least once this summer. And if you don’t, you should. Fresh seafood, great beaches, cute little quaint towns, lots of outdoor activities for kids and families are only a handful of the things Cape Cod has to offer. I’m actually not a fan of road trips of any length, but if I HAVE to, I always break them up with fun stops, especially with the kids. On our way to the Cape last summer, we made these three stops, and it was nice to enjoy the towns along the way and explore places I wouldn’t have otherwise. If you're planning a trip to the Cape and coming from the North, these stops are great ones to make with your family.
246 Prospect St, Norwell, MA 02061
This dairy farm serves the freshest ice cream and offers seasonal flavors. You can even visit the cows on site and see where they are milked. Not only do they offer delicious ice cream, but there is also a market on the property where you can buy fresh milk and cream, along with some produce and treats for the road. I mean, you can’t take a road trip without an ice cream stop, and this is the perfect place to grab a treat.
2240 State Road Plymouth, MA 02360
This restaurant feels so homey, and everything on the menu sounded amazing. Be sure to try the Blueberry Cake French Toast, it’s ridiculously good. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, and you can also order baked goods to go, including their famous Blueberry cake. There’s also the cutest bookstore next door, where we grabbed some books for the kids. The only caveat is that the restaurant closes pretty early, so make sure to plan your road trip accordingly if you want to stop here.
103 Wood Ave, Sandwich, MA 02563
Now you’ve entered the beginning of Cape Cod in its oldest town, and what better stop to make than this gorgeous boardwalk. The Sandwich Boardwalk is 1,350 feet long and built over a gorgeous marsh. If you're feeling froggy, you can also make a little beach stop out of it. It's a great place for crab watching/catching and letting the kids run around and play. There’s a parking lot right when you enter, but keep in mind that they only have porta-potties.
And you’ve made it to the Cape with some ice cream, delicious food, and a little beach welcome. It definitely made our little road trip more enjoyable by inserting these stops, and I had never been to any of these places before, so it was nice to discover new things along the way.
